Britney Spears is said to be ready for her close-up, after busting a sweat with her daily dance workouts.

According to E! Online the star has lined up a series of semi-secret shows in Los Angeles next week.

The Toxic singer was said to have spent the day in rehearsals at club ‘Forty Deuce’ for a surprise performance at the venue where she was previously pictured swapping clothes with scantily-clad dancers.

Club owner Ivan Kane confirmed Britney “came on stage during rehearsal, looking very hot, with four dancers and sang three songs”.

“They ran through the set several times, the choreography was smokin’ and she sounded great”, said Kane.

But Spears decided that she needed more time to rehearse for her comeback performance, and left fans disappointed with a no-show.

Scarlett Johansson is reportedly to make her singing debut with Scottish rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Rumours have been circulating for a while that a special guest would feature on their US tour, and Johansson is now confirmed to sing backing for the band at their date in Pomona, California.

The concert is a warm-up gig before the band play at the Coachella festival in Indio.

It is not known whether the collaboration will be a one-off or it will be repeated at the festival.

The US dates scheduled for this coming summer are the first for the band since they split up in 1998.

She was born with her acting family’s classic beauty, but Drew Barrymore credits her fun-loving approach to life for her No. 1 spot on People magazine’s annual “100 Most Beautiful People” list.

According to sources, the American singer had a nose job done in April 2006, which she never accepted nor denied.

The ‘Autobiography’ singer revealed that she is not bothered about what people say, for what matters is that she is happy about it.

“I don’t get bothered by people saying what they say. I’m a happy person, and I’m happy with my looks,” People quoted Simpson, as telling Harper’s Bazaar magazine in its May issue.

The 22-year old insisted that she has never been insecure about her appearance still she went under the knife because of ‘personal choice’.

“I believe if somebody chooses to do plastic surgery, it [should be] for yourself, not for anyone else,” she said.

“Everybody always has an opinion. One minute they’ll love you; one minute they’ll hate you. When you go home to sleep at night, [the important thing] is to feel good about yourself. And I do,” she added.

The singer also slammed critics who claim that she wants to look like her elder sister Jessica Simpson.

“Of course I look like her. She’s my sister,” she says with a laugh. “It’s like, God, please! We think it’s quite funny,” she added.

There have also been claims that Simpson had chosen to surgically enhance her lips and to reduce her chin.

Justin Timberlake waxwork at Madame Tussauds is proving to be a huge hit with his female fans.

It took four months to make the life-size impression of the 26-year-old US singer.

Madame Tussauds commissioned a Savile Row tailor to create a white suit for the star’s waxwork at the London attraction.

The Justified singer, who begins his UK tour tomorrow, already has a waxwork from his ‘N Sync boyband days in Madame Tussauds in the US.

A Madame Tussauds spokesman said: “Justin has been involved in the waxwork, selecting the images and the look that he wanted.

“He’s one of those personalities that the public have been saying they would love to get up close and personal with for a long time.”

Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn back together again? They have sparked speculation they are on again after the actor was spotted spending the night at the weekend in the actress’ LA house.

According to media reports, Vaughn was seen driving up to Aniston’s house in L.A. on Saturday April 21st in his blue Pontiac Firebird convertible and didn’t leave until the next day. “Vince didn’t leave until 5 p.m. the next day,” an eyewitness tells Us magazine.

Back on again or not, a source close to Aniston commented, “If they hooked up that night, there is nothing wrong with it. She can trust him.” A source close to Vaughn, meanwhile, agreed with that, saying “It’s no big deal if he stayed over. They are friends.”

Vaughn and Aniston met on the set of movie “The Break-Up” in 2005 and were soon then hooked up. The couple announced they were no longer dating in December 2006.

(AP) Angelina Jolie, helping an orphans advocacy group establish its headquarters in the nation’s capital, pushed Thursday for more U.S. aid for education in developing countries.

“This is a happy day because it is not often enough that these children are represented in this town,” Jolie said to a room crowded with cameras and reporters.

Jolie appeared with four others to open the Washington headquarters of Global Action for Children, a nonpartisan advocacy group formed in 2003.

The group, supported by a collection of charities, religious groups and nongovernmental organizations, wants the Bush administration to commit an additional $2.5 billion a year to education and to aiding orphans in developing countries.

“The crisis has far outpaced the funding,” said Jennifer Delaney, the group’s executive director.

Jolie said orphan children sometimes beat the odds and survive but often are enslaved, resort to prostitution or are forced to become child soldiers. She said vulnerable children could be recruited to terrorist organizations.

“Our government has the power to choose which path these children are going to take,” Jolie told reporters at the National Press Club. “We know the consequences of our inaction.”

Jolie has adopted three orphan children, but said any help that people in the U.S. can offer is better than nothing. “The best solution for anyone who is abandoned or displaced is to be home (in their own countries),” Jolie said. “I would support that first and foremost.”

Jolie demurred when asked if her cause might be better served if she became more political or ran for elective office. “I certainly don’t think anybody wants that,” she said, laughing.

Nicole Kidman is producing a remake of the Marilyn Monroe hit “How to Marry a Millionaire,” and may also star in the Fox project.

Plot details for the update are being kept under wraps, but it is described as a complete overhaul of the original story.

The original, a Technicolor comedy that was released by Fox in 1953, vaulted Monroe to stardom. It revolved around three models who use their charm and good looks to lure rich men.

Kidman has a mixed record with remakes, with her recent releases “Bewitched” and “The Stepford Wives” failing to make much of an impact at the box office.

Her Fox-based Blossom Films shingle has several projects in development, including an untitled spy project written by Simon Kinberg (”Mr & Mrs Smith”), and “The Bachelorette Party,” based on Karen McCullah Lutz’s novel.

(Daily Mail) The latest batch of tickets for Prince William and Prince Harry’s concert in memory of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, sold out within minutes today.

Ten thousand more seats for the event were up for grabs from 9am, but were snapped up soon after going on sale.

The Wembley concert in July marks 10 years since the Princess was killed in a Paris car crash.

Further tickets are likely to go on sale at a later stage.

Eight new acts, including Lily Allen, Kanye West and Rod Stewart were announced by organisers yesterday.

Status Quo, Natasha Bedingfield, The Feeling, James Morrison and Orson will also star in the Princes’ tribute to their mother on July 1, which would have been her 46th birthday.

The royal brothers have expressed their thanks to all those who have bought tickets so far.

Geoffrey Matthews, who is in charge of the concert, said: “Prince William and Prince Harry have asked me to say how incredibly grateful they are to the people who bought tickets and the artists who so kindly are going to perform, and the broadcasters who have showed such an interest in their celebrations of their mother.”

Other performers include Sir Elton John, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Pharrell Williams and Duran Duran.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is devising a medley of musicals and there will be a performance by the English National Ballet, in keeping with Diana’s taste in music and the arts.

The tickets sold out in 20 minutes, Clarence House said.

“It’s brilliant. We’re really, really chuffed. The demand has been very high,” spokeswoman said.

William and Harry will appear on stage at some point during the five-hour event.

Organisers denied the concert team was worried about Live Earth, starring Madonna and other high profile names, at Wembley the next weekend.

“Live Earth is a massive worldwide multi-venue festival which has a fantastic cause and we wish them all the best,” Mr Matthews said.

“The concert (for Diana) I think is absolutely unique.”

Live Earth will share some facilities left by the Diana team at Wembley Stadium, likely to include the massive stage they are constructing.

William and Harry have yet to finalise their guest list.

It was confirmed in December last year that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall would not be at the event, with aides saying the event was aimed at the younger generation. The Queen is also unlikely to attend.

Instead, the royal family will gather to remember the Princess at a memorial service on August 31 - the 10th anniversary of her death - at the Guards’ Chapel in London.

The comperes for the concert have yet to be announced and more artists will be unveiled later.

A crowd of up to 62,000 is expected to pack Wembley to watch the celebration.

The BBC is broadcasting it live and is also likely to play it on giant screens around the country.

More than 140 countries will show the concert, with the worldwide audience expected to reach hundreds of millions.

Britney Spears shaved her head as a tribute to her aunt who had died from cancer, according to a friend of the star.

The singer stunned the world when she cut off all her hair in full view of paparazzi camera crews at a Los Angeles salon in February 7.

She followed the stunt with a spell in rehab - but a pal claims Spears was suffering post-partum depression and grief and shaved off her hair as an act of “solidarity”. The friend tells PageSix.com, “Britney’s aunt had just died of cancer. She was feeling very guilty because she hadn’t been there with her, she was overwhelmingly depressed and she shaved her head in solidarity.”

MUMBAI- Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, one of Bollywood’s best-known screen couples, married on Friday in a traditional Hindu wedding in which the groom rode a white horse before the pair took their vows around a sacred fire.

The ceremonies concluded three days of celebrations at the actors’ homes in India’s entertainment capital of Mumbai, creating, what industry pundits said is, Bollywood’s ultimate power couple.

Rai, 33, is a former Miss World and Bachchan, 31, belongs to Indian film royalty, being the son of Amitabh Bachchan, the country’s best-known actor who has a huge fan following around the world.

Bachchan, wearing a white “bandhgala” or a long Indian tunic, a silver-colored turban and a veil of flowers on his face, rode a white horse as part of a custom and waved to hundreds of fans gathered outside his house.

The groom’s party then moved to another Bachchan residence nearby where the marriage was solemnized by priests who chanted hymns from ancient Indian scriptures amid the blowing of conch shells and ululation, sources involved with the wedding said.

The celebrations have transfixed Bollywood and sent India’s celebrity-obsessed media into a frenzy even though the Bachchans have tried to keep the event strictly private and low-key because the groom’s grandmother is ill.

But fans did not leave the couple — dubbed as “Abhiash” by the Indian media which likens them to the Hollywood celebrity duo of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie — alone as hundreds of them lined the roads leading to the marriage venue.

Police briefly used batons to push back over-enthusiastic fans.

Many fans slept on the pavement outside Bachchan’s house to catch a glimpse of the stars.

“I don’t have an invitation but I have come to bless the couple,” said Keshav Srivastav, a look-alike of Bachchan senior who drew cheers from the amused crowd.

Earlier, the celebrations were marked by drama after an Indian woman claiming to be Bachchan’s lover slashed her wrist in front of his home.

She told reporters she wanted to kill herself because Bachchan had gone back on his promise of marrying her after having “physical relations” with her. Police arrested the woman — described as a struggling fashion model — for attempting suicide, a punishable offence.

Police refused to register a complaint against Bachchan, saying the model had no proof of the relationship and it looked like a publicity stunt.

Rai and Bachchan have worked together in at least five films, and both have been romantically linked in the past to other Bollywood stars.

Rai, who has acted in over 40 films, was crowned Miss World in 1994. Bachchan too has notched up about 40 movies.

Hollywood’s do-good glamour couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are to grace the Cannes Film Festival with their presence, thanks to their involvement in two movies that will be screened out of competition, People Magazine reported Thursday.

The couple will present their film A Mighty Heart, in which Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Pitt’s company Plan B produced the movie.

Pitt himself stars in Ocean’s 13 and will be joined in Cannes by George Clooney, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and the rest of the cast for that film’s world premiere.
