Rachel Griffiths was born in Newcastle, New South Wales but grew up in Melbourne with her art consultant mother and two older brothers. After earning a Bachelor of Education degree in drama and dance at Victoria College, Rusden, she began her career as a member of Woolly Jumpers, a community theatre group. She had her first success as the creator and performer of Barbie Gets Hip, which played at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 1991.

Griffiths and Toni Collette were relative unknowns when they were cast as best friends and fellow outcasts in the 1994 film Muriel’s Wedding. Her performance won her critical acclaim and both the Australian Film Critics Award and the Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Supporting Actress. She followed this triumph in 1996 with the role of an earthy, ill-mannered pig farmer’s wife in Michael Winterbottom’s Jude.

In 1997, Griffiths sparked a controversy after attending the opening of the Crown Casino topless and uninvited, her stated reasoning being the protest of the apparently one-sided views taken by the media and state government towards the new casino, and inspired by the story of Lady Godiva.[1] [2]

Griffiths joined forces again with Muriel director P. J. Hogan for her American film debut, My Best Friend’s Wedding, in 1997. That same year she starred in My Son the Fanatic, a British film in which she portrayed a tough Yorkshire prostitute who becomes involved with a considerably older Pakistani taxi driver played by Om Puri.

Griffiths received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of real-life flautist Hilary du Pré opposite Emily Watson as her sister, famed cellist Jacqueline “Jackie” du Pre, in Hilary and Jackie (1998). Showing convincing range, she portrayed Johnny Depp’s hysterical mother in 2001’s Blow, opposite Ray Liotta.

In 2001, Griffiths was cast as one of the leads in Six Feet Under. Her performance as emotionally-scarred massage therapist Brenda Chenowith earned her Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards, as well as two Emmy Award nominations. In the third season, the actress missed four episodes due to her pregnancy. By the end of the show’s run, she had appeared in almost every episode of the series. At present, she is part of the ensemble cast, co-starring alongside Sally Field and Calista Flockhart, of the dramatic series Brothers & Sisters, in which she portrays Sarah Walker Whedon, who inherits control of the family business after her father’s death. Griffiths received a 2007 Emmy nomination for her work on the series.

Nicole Richie will marry fiance Joel Madden after she gives birth. The Good Charlotte frontman says the couple will definitely tie the knot, but only after five-month pregnant Nicole has delivered their first child. He told US radio DJ Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday: “Obviously marriage is in our future. I don’t know when or how, but right now our priority is our family and the baby. Joel and Nicole, 25, have been together since early this year, and announced in July they were expecting their first child.

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has split with her boyfriend and co-star Zac Efron, and is considering posing for a men’s magazine - according to reports.

Hudgens, who was involved in a nude photo scandal earlier this month, split with boyfriend Efron while he was overseas, OK! magazine reported.

The mag said Hudgens was seen with another man at a Hollywood Hills party while Efron was in Australia to promote the movie Hairspray.

Eyewitesses told OK! magazine that Hudgens was “all over” her older date, and when someone asked her about Efron she “threw a fit”.

Meanwhile, the Starpulse entertainment blog reported Hudgens is considering posing for a men’s magazine - but has ruled out a spread in Playboy.

“I think being a woman and being able to show a sexy side is empowering,” Starpulse reported Hudgens as saying.

“Being able to show we are comfortable in our skin is a good thing. I totally would pose for a sexy magazine. But not Playboy.”

Earlier this month, a nude photo of Hudgens circulated widely on the internet.

Hudgens said she was “embarrassed” and regretted ever having taken the photos.

It is not yet known who leaked the photos.

O.J. Simpson called the police from Prody’s home in October 1999 after Prody was on a two day cocaine binge and was trying to get Prody to go to rehab.

In September 2000, Prody accused Simpson of breaking into her home and erasing a message on her answering machine and taking a letter. No charges were filed.

Prody was accused of kicking and slapping Simpson in October 2000 at the Wyndham hotel in Miami, Florida, and again, no charges were filed.

In January 2001, the police were called to Simpson’s home after a neighbor reported an argument between Simpson and Prody. Prody told police that Simpson was upset that she came home late.

After four years with Simpson, they broke up and she sold her story to the National Enquirer, revealing that Simpson had confessed to her that he killed Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman. Prody ended up getting back together with O.J.

Alicia Silverstone who was voted sexiest female vegetarian in 2004 - bared all for the 30-second TV commercial for the goveg.com campaign launched by PETA.

The clip begins with Silverstone sensually pulling herself out of a swimming pool, carefully protecting her modesty with her arms.

It follows with soft shots of the blonde star perched at the edge of the pool with her back to the camera revealing her butt and close-ups of her face.

The PETA ad’ - which was directed by Dave Meyers, who has previously worked on videos for Missy Elliot - airs on Food Network, Lifetime and E! in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday (19.09.07), before being shown across the US.

Silverstone also appears in a poster for the campaign, in which she is seen sprawled on the ground in front of the pool, under the words: “I am Alicia Silverstone, and I am a vegetarian.”

Actress Keira Knightley seems to have problems avoiding props on set and breaks important items while filming.

According to contactmusic.com, Knightley was upset when she broke a Chanel necklace and a lighter when she was shooting the movie ‘Atonement’.

She said: ‘I was wearing a Chanel necklace and it got stuck. No one could budge it. We had to phone Chanel to ask if we could just break it. By this time the filming had come to a complete standstill. I also had to light a cigarette and lighters always break for me on film sets. At this particular moment the lighter had broken for about the millionth time.’

Sally Field, who won Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Nora Holden Walker in ABC’s “Brothers and Sisters,” was censored by FOX at last night’s 59th Annual Emmy Awards, as she was about to make a point about the Iraq War.

“Surely this [award] belongs to all the mothers of the world. May they be seen, may their work be valued and raised. Especially to the mothers who stand with an open heart and wait. Wait for their children to come home from danger, from harm’s way, and from war. I am proud to be one of those women. Sienna has thrilled fans by stripping off for a fruity film role. She wore nothing except a garland of flowers in her hair while shooting scenes for her new movie ‘Hippie Hippie Shake,’ in a garden in West London’s trendy Notting Hill Gate.

“She sat on the grass with the flowers in the hair and danced on the grass waving her hands. She looked simply gorgeous,” The Sun quoted an onlooker, as saying.

In the movie, which centres on the Oz magazine obscenity trial of the 1960s, Miller plays artist Louise Ferrier, girlfriend of Richard Neville who edited the underground mag.

The movie, wherein Cillian Murphy will play Neville, is due to be out next year.

Vera Mishina and Cash Warren? National Enquirer published a story that Cash Warren? cheated on Jessica Alba with a 20-year-old model. Supposedly, Cash met the Russian girl, Vera Mishina, a couple weeks ago — as Jessica and himself were trying to reconcile their relationship. The model tells the story:

“On the night he picked me up and got me into his bed, he was acting like the world’s biggest single man. But I found out that only hours after being with me, he was on a plane back to L.A., where he was then photographed having dinner with her and acting affectionate.”

“If he had told me they had gotten back together there’s no way I would have allowed him to sleep with me. I now feel like all he wanted was a one-night stand. I feel used. Warren has since hired a lawyer and is denying he did it.

Lindsay Lohan will have another trial.

Court has refused to dismiss portions of a lawsuit against Lindsay Lohan over an October 2005 accident in which her Mercedes-Benz collided with a van.

Superior Court Judge Michael L. Stern set April 7 for the trial.

The California Highway Patrol think that Raymundo Ortega, a busboy, caused the accident, when he made an illegal U-turn, but he sued Lohan and is seeking at least $200,000 in damages.

Ortega was knocked out in the crash, said his attorney, Robert G. Klein.

Lindsay Lohan and a female passenger sustained minor injuries.

Ortega’s suit contends that Lohan was fleeing paparazzi and was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

“This case is about responsibility and she’s not taking responsibility,” Klein said outside court.

Lohan’s attorney, David J. Ozeran, said outside court that there was no evidence that Lohan was intoxicated.

Last month, Lohan agreed to spend a day in jail and complete a drug treatment program after pleading guilty or no contest to misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine charges stemming from arrests earlier this year in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

Daniel Craig wants to go nude in the next James Bond movie…

The British actor has already impressed audiences with his toned body in the last bond film ‘Casino Royale’.

He now hopes that the producers will give him a chance to strip off in their next film.

“I’m prepared to do a full-frontal scene. I’m not shy and Bond wouldn’t be shy about it either,” Daily Snack quoted the source as saying.

A source at production company EON Productions has revealed that producers have some plans for a nude scene for Craig.

“The producers want to pull out even more stops on this one. When Daniel first agreed to be Bond he told them he has no issues with nude scenes,” the source said.

“The plan is to do that in the next film. 007 is more confident and a bit tougher round the edges after what happened to the love of his life, Vesper, who drowned. A nude scene would prove just how stripped of his former self he now is,”

Keira Knightley in her interview for the Vogue says that she is trying to ‘have her cake and eat it’ by posing naked for advertisers while at the same time demanding privacy.

Miss Knightley has in the past been brutally honest about her body shape, particularly her lack of cleavage. Now she revealed her anger at being criticised for being too thin.

‘When I was 17, 18, 19, I felt incredibly insecure, I went through a period of thinking I looked weird and too skinny, and that’s ten times worse when you’re being written about.’

The campaign, for the Coco Mademoiselle fragrance, also includes a glamorous 60-second cinema commercial, shot by Atonement director Joe Wright, which features Miss Knightley slipping out of the bowler hat outfit into a crimson dress, dashing across Paris and flirting with a mysterious stranger.

The Chanel adverts are the second time she has appeared nude for a photo shoot, after the Vanity Fair cover by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, in which she posed alongside American actress Scarlett Johansson and designer Tom Ford.

Keira Knightley explained: ‘You’re too young to drink in America and you’re on your own, and you don’t know anyone and you can’t drive, so you’re sitting in your hotel room and you’re just watching television – maybe even a programme about how lucky you are.’

Kathy Griffin won a Creative Arts Emmy for her Bravo reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.

In her thank-you speech she said:

Catholic League President Bill Donohue called to “denounce Griffin’s obscene and blasphemous comment” which he then thanked them for doing.

Ang Lee won the Golden Lion for best picture with his sexually explicit mowie Lust, only two years after he did it with Brokeback Mountain.

Cate Blanchett won the award for best actress, for her portrayal of Bob Dylan in Todd Haynes’ I’m Not There.

Ang Lee’s movie is a World War II thriller set in Shanghai with very long and sometimes violent sex scenes which Lee stated were real.

“It is overwhelming, because this movie has taken me to some very difficult places,” said Lee.

“I have invited you to come along with me and in the end to stay down there with me … You are the seven samurais, I needed your help,”

Brian De Palma won the Silver Lion award for best director with its brutal reconstruction of the real-life rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl by US soldiers.

icarly.com is a new show from Nickelodeon. It’s hosted by Miranda Cosgrove.

The most important thing is, that this is a fan-generated content show, which will incorporate footage from real kids who have submitted videos.

The show also stars Nathan Kress as Carly’s technical advisor, Jennette McCurdy as her best friend along with other actors and actresses like Angelyna Martinez and Colin Spensor.

The pilot to the show has been a hit success and it’s not surprising. Icarley is ahead of its time. Soon there will be many shows that allow users to influence the type of content.

Nikki Reed will be replaced by Missy Peregrym in new horror themed tv show called “Reaper”.

Nikki Reed appeared in pilot episode, but she wasn’t good enough for the directors.

Sara Evans‘ husband is asking her in a court filing whether she had romantic relationship with nearly a dozen people, including Kenny Chesney, Richard Marx and former “Dancing With The Stars” partner Tony Dovolani.

He filled the 118-page document in Williamson Country chancery court as part of Evans’ divorce from Craig Schelske, according to The Tennessean newspaper.

It asks Evans to state under oath and penalty of perjury whether or not she admits to “an affair/sexual relationship/romantic involvement” with Chesney, Marx, Dovolani or any member of her band. It also seeks to find out if there was any relationship with Brad Arnold, Matt Roberts, Todd Harrell or Chris Henderson — all members of the group 3 Doors Down.

Paris Hilton.com has reported that Paris Hilton has filed a lawsuit against Hallmark Cards for using her likeness without permission. It would seem that Paris Hilton couldn’t stand to let Ms. Hudgen stay in the spotlight. She had to have the top spot

She is also suing over the use of her trademarked phrase “that’s hot,” in a card that depicted Paris Hilton’s first day as a waitress.

The $500,000 lawsuit is reportedly a result of the pop stars anger towards a previous card the company ran while she was in jail.
