Naomi Watts has been lined up to appear in The Da Vinci Code prequel alongside Tom Hanks.

The King Kong star will play the female lead in the Ron Howard-directed Angels And Demons, reports New York gossip column PageSix.

But filming on the movie has been postponed until February, as a direct result of the Hollywood writer’s strike.

Sources claim Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldman’s script still needs work, and he is on strike with his Writers Guild of America brethren.

The film bosses have also put the movie’s release date back from the end of 2008 to 2009.

Tag: Linda Hogancelebrityjpg @ 9:12 am

Linda Hogan filed for divorce this week.

Nothing’s quite as it seems, I suppose. And nothing destroys a marriage faster than a troubled teen coupled with a full-frontal media assault.

Hulk was informed of the filing when a reporter for the St. Petersburg Times approached him for comment, and let him know the papers were filed on Tuesday.

“Thank you for the great information,” he told the reporter. “Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me.”

The couple has been married for 24 years. Linda has been in California for the past three weeks, while Hulk has been in Florida.

Kay HanleyKay Hanley (born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on September 11, 1968) is an alternative rock musician. She is best known as the vocalist for the band Letters To Cleo. Hanley was a member of Letters To Cleo from 1990 to 2000 (the length of the band’s existence). She was not only the lead vocalist for the group, but also came up with the band’s name (she had a pen pal named Cleo when she was younger). In 1997, she started to work on other projects than the band, starting with a role in the Boston Rock Opera’s performance of Jesus Christ Superstar as Mary Magdalene.

In 1999, Hanley made a cameo as herself in the film 10 Things I Hate about You, singing a cover version of Nick Lowe’s “Cruel to be Kind” at the movie characters’ high school prom.

Towards the end of Letters to Cleo’s career, she began performing with her husband and fellow Letters To Cleo member Michael Eisenstein outside of the band. Around the same time, she gave birth to their daughter, Zoe.

Starting her own solo career, Hanley started doing music for the cartoon Generation O. She also provided the singing voice for Rachael Leigh Cook’s character Josie in the movie Josie and the Pussycats. In 2002, she released her first solo album, Cherry Marmalade. That same year, she appeared on the Dropkick Murphys/Face to Face split cd, providing guest vocals on the original version of the Dropkick Murphys song “The Dirty Glass”. She also performed the song “Follow Me” for the video game Sonic Heroes in 2003. In 2004 she released a follow up to Cherry Marmalade, The Babydoll EP. She is very involved with the Boston based charity “Hot Stove, Cool Music.” She is currently in the Los Angeles-based girl band, the Dilettantes, with New York native Michelle Lewis. She sings the main theme song for My Friends Tigger and Pooh. A new half hour Disney Channel TV show, premiering on Playhouse Disney in May 2007.

American Music Awards…

Tag: American Music Awardscelebrityjpg @ 2:54 am

According to my television, The American Music Awards are on tonight and there are “ten performances to make it an unmissable event!” Unfortunately, I recognized one name on the entire list of performers (Beyonce) and couldn’t identify the rest if they assaulted me. Who are these people? And what music are they exactly being awarded for making?

While I feel pretty knowledgeable about music, that which I know exists completely outside of the realm and scope of “Top 40,” music videos, corporate radio, and music sold in malls. So, perhaps it’s not a surprise, I don’t know anyone who would be honored at an industry event/major label awards show. Reading the names of the nominees and winners, I was shocked just how ‘out of touch’ with mainstream music I am. I spent the first ten minutes scratching my head, wondering if someone who plays a generic beat with a few choreographed dance moves can sell 10 million records? Why can’t great bands, with original material and insane stage performances, like local rockers Thee Emergency, Austinite’s Ghostland Observatory, or east coaster’s The Shackeltons sell just as many or more? These bands seem to have more talent in their pinkie fingers than these “award winning stars. ” I spend a lot of time at shows wondering why such and such band isn’t the biggest band ever…. and an award show like the American Music Awards, just compounds that question. And further more, in an age of successful and acclaimed musicians existing far outside the realm of mainstream music, do award shows like the AMA’s matter at all? In such a diverse market is “top 40″ obsolete? Is that kind of fame, even what the bands I love dream of attaining?

When my father and I discuss music, which is every time we speak, he often laments that ”There is never going to be another Beatles. …or even another Rolling Stones.” There are just too many choices and great bands out there, to many ways to be exposed to music, that one band will never be as dominant or popular as The Beatles were. The idea of “the biggest band in the world,” now all depends on point of view and preference. And certainly, as “The American Music Awards” prove, just because your the biggest, doesn’t mean you are anywhere near the best. I’ll take my locals every night of the week, over those award winning stars and “unmissable” performances.

Lindsay Lohan - 84 Minutes In Jail

Tag: Lindsay Lohancelebrityjpg @ 4:28 am

Lindsay Lohan checked in and out of jail on Thursday, spending just 84 minutes behind bars for a drunken driving and cocaine-possession conviction, Los Angeles police said.

Lohan, 21, had been sentenced in August to one day in jail after admitting guilt to drink and drug charges and was told by the court to serve her time before January.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Web site showed that Lohan checked into jail at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and was released at 11:54 a.m.

The charges stemmed from a July car chase and an arrest in May after she wrecked her car in Beverly Hills. After her July arrest, the star of the hit movie “Freaky Friday” checked into a rehabilitation center in Utah and spent more than two months there.

It was Lohan’s second stint in rehab this year after admitting she had been attending meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Lohan was also sentenced to 10 days of community service, three years probation and 18 months of an alcohol-education program.

Jail sentences for minor crimes are often cut short by Los Angeles sheriffs, who manage the county jails, because of overcrowding. In August actress Nicole Richie of “The Simple Life” spent one hour, 20 minutes in jail for what was a four-day sentence for driving under the influence of drugs.

In July, a media frenzy surrounded socialite Paris Hilton’s three-week stint behind bars for a driving violation. Hilton had been sentenced to 45 days, was released after three days, and then sent back after an outcry over perceived preferential treatment.
