What their favorite foods, sport, haristyle, clothing brand/style, band or singer, TV show, book, website are?

Ask them to describe themself if they have not sent you a picture. And do the same!

Another good topic to talk about is about recent news, or about your school.

Where they live, what they do for fun, how many brothers and sisters they may have?

What is there city like what kind of sports do they enjoy?

What kind of music do they listen to, what kind of foods do they like?

If you have a pen pal from a different country get the most out of the situation! You must be curious of their lifestyle. Maybe things about entertainment (movies/music etc.), style, schooling (if you’re in school). technology, weather. Just basically whatever comes to mind.

Those are easy things to get started off with. Once you get to know each other it will be extremely easy to continue sending letters.
